Keep in mind, wonder woman thinks she can do everything, be all things to everyone, she never says no. She continues to add more and more things to her schedule. "Oh sure, I can help on that committee.", or Yes, lets have the dinner party at my place...no problem. She never turns down a lunch date or a social request, unless of course, she's already booked. But putting yourself on this course is a recipe for disaster. When you can't be everything to everybody it doesn't mean you're inadequate.

You must be willing to ask for help when you know you really need it. Lets face it, it's hard, almost next to impossible, to balance it all, a career, taking care of an aging parent, being a mom, having a quality nurturing relationship with your husband or significant other and actually have the time for outside interests. The system is bound to fail if you keep the illusion alive that you can be "wonder woman" and do all these things exceptionally well. Better settle for lowering your expectation of excellence, you'll be much happier in your life if you learn the fine atr of saying no. I read somewhere that using these "7 magic words" can literally change your "wonder woman complex instantly. Do you want to know what the 7 words are? Here they are" That's not going to work for me." Say it to yourself, say it over and over till it rolls off your tongue, it's really going to help you to gain some control over your need to please at the expense of your sanity

If you are trying to maintain an image that is totally out of control, and much bigger than you have the energy for, say good bye to the "wonder woman" hang-up and say hello to returning to sanity! Just implement the" magic 7." You'll see the more you use these magic words the easier your life will become. You may even have time in your schedule for a hobby! The key here is to prioritize what your needs are and the needs of your family and the people that matter most in your life. Stress is real, are you creating it in your life? If you are, eventually you will cave under all the pressure. Reevaluate your "wonder woman" image of self imposed expectations and "take a break." Consider what things you actually have control over and make some changes.
